1. You will be able to buy a One Day Licence on race day from the registration desk. Please bring €10 and Photo ID with you. For more information about ODLs, go to ‘Insurance & One Day Licences’ on the Triathlon Ireland website.
2. Triathlon Ireland Members must bring a valid membership card plus Photo ID with them to registration. If you have issues regarding your Tri Ireland Membership, please call Tri Ireland asap on 01 2764934.
Participants after registering should set up their running gear in Transition situated outside in the car park behind the Shoreline building at end of swimming pool. You will be allocated a race number in your Reg pack which will be stuck on your individual box in Transition.
Times Between 3 – 3:45pm
• Find your allocated box number & remember where it is situated in Transition
• Attach your specific race bib number to the front of your running top before race (either using pins provided in pack or race belt)
• Put your running shoes, socks, shorts and running top (maybe drink /snack) into your Transition box in preparation for the run
Time 3:00 – 3:55pm
Now you are ready to change for the swim (500m, 20 lengths)
Changing facilities are located inside building, beyond reception.
For the 500m swim you will need the following:
• Swim suit (no wetsuit!)
• Goggles
• Timing chip strapped around your ankle
• Alive Outside will provide swim hats for each participant
When your race wave is called out, you will be given a race briefing beside the pool while the previous wave is in the water swimming.
You will then be allocated a lane which is standardised with swimmers who are all similar speeds over 500m, based on your swim times given on our website when you entered the race!
You will be given a 2 min warm-up period in the water. It is up to all 5 competitors in each lane to organise the starting order; 1st – 5th by quickly agreeing swim ability. Each swimmer will have a 5sec gap and will be started by Race Directors whistle.
Each lane has an Alive Outside swim marshal; they will allocate you a specific coloured swim hat for your lane. Each lane has a maximum of 5 swimmers/coloured hats.
Your swim marshal will be able to identify you in the water by your separate coloured hat, and tick off 2 lengths every time you touch the wall. The swim marshal will ‘gently’ tap your head when you have done 9 laps (18 lengths) of pool to remind you that this is your last lap.
On successfully completing your 500m/20 lengths you climb out of the pool (deep end) and walk, you must not run on poolside out the exit door (max 30m from furthest lane) and into the Transition area to get ready for the 5km run.
< h3>Aquathlon Swim Rules:
