☀️ An Active, Confidence-Building Summer Camp in The High School! ☀️
Adventure, Sport and New Friendships – All in One Brilliant Week!
Looking for a summer camp that keeps your child active, social and excited to head out the door each morning?
The Alive Outside Summer Camps at The High School, Rathgar give children aged 7-13 a full week of sport, adventure and creativity in one of the best school campuses in Dublin. With large grass areas, astro pitches and indoor sports halls, children have loads of space to run, play, build and explore every day – whatever weather the summer brings!
Each day brings a different mix of activities, keeping attention and energy levels high from start to finish. One moment they might be playing team sports, the next building shelters, solving codes, creating flags, racing in the Alive Outside Olympics or planning tactics for Lazer Tag. It’s busy, varied and designed so children stay fully involved.
Children are grouped by age and supported by experienced instructors who focus on encouragement and participation. Many arrive not knowing anyone – by the end of the week, they leave with new friendships and plenty of stories to tell!
⚛️ NEW FOR 2026 – Adventure-Led STEM
Our programme offers something for every child, whether they enjoy sport, creativity, teamwork or problem-solving. For 2026 we’ve added new activities alongside fresh twists on favourites like Bubble Football, Lazer Tag and the Alive Outside Olympics.
Our brand new STEM programme – Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths – is built into the adventure rather than taught like a lesson. Children solve challenges through missions and teamwork, developing practical thinking skills while they play.
There are no worksheets and no classroom feel. Instead, STEM concepts are woven into high-energy activities where learning happens naturally through action. It’s hands-on, engaging and builds confidence and curiousity without children even realising they’re learning.
🧠 A Balance That Works
Each day blends movement, creativity and thinking:
- Active sports and team games
- Outdoor challenges and exploration
- Creative building and problem-solving tasks
- Strategy-based missions and group challenges
This balance keeps sporty children engaged while also giving quieter or creative children their moment to shine.
🚌 Special Highlight: Day Trip Adventure to Killruddery!
Every week includes a Day Trip (with bus) to our iconic Adventure Centre in Killruddery, home to Hell & Back Junior and Ireland’s Fittest Family TV show. For many campers, it becomes the part of the week they talk about all summer! On the day, children take part in a full outdoor adventure programme in a real purpose-built setting, including:
- HELL & BACK Junior obstacle challenges – climbing, crawling and tackling fun outdoor obstacles designed for movement, confidence and plenty of laughs
- Outdoor team missions – problem-solving and teamwork challenges where groups work together to complete tasks and succeed
- Large-scale group activities – energetic games and shared challenges in a wide open adventure environment
It’s a chance to break away from the usual camp setting at The High School, experience activities in a true outdoors environment and enjoy a memorable day with camp mates.
